Where to start from now? Let me start by introducing the person behind the black writer.
My name is Levy-Braide Deborah Tamunotonye, I’m from Rivers state, Nigeria, I was born on April 2nd. I school at The University of Lagos, an Estate Management Major and I am a Christian…now this is beginning to feel like those primary school compositions hahahahaa
Let me tell you about the black writer
The black writer, the black writer, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the name (please comment on that). When I was younger, I used to always write poems that made people feel I could see dark things, this was because I used writing as a form of therapy for my anger issues; my mum began to call me a writer. I was in love with the color black, would blame it on my mother though, black has always been her favorite color and growing up as the last child I spent a lot of time with her and picked some of her interest like wearing black, reading, planning and a whole lot of other stuff. At some point I began to call myself the black writer. So when I wanted to start this baby (my blog) “the black writer” was just the perfect name.
Black to me is power, strength, sexy, ambition, this list could go on and on. When I wear black there’s this superior feeling I get and I love it. The Black Writer has grown from that girl that used writing to control her anger, now she writes because it makes her feel powerful, because she believes others will feel powerful too and would be inspired reading her blog.
For some reason, I’ve lost my poetic touch (sad face), I can hardly make my words rhyme but I like my new style of writing now. It’s pretty simple and understandable by anyone who reads it.
I’ve been so confused as to what category to place my blog in, lifestyle or personal blog? I don’t think I fit into one so I came up with mine, it is a “Self-Expressive” blog because I basically write about myself, my opinions and what I feel about some topics. I tell stories the way they come to my head.
I would say my target audience is young adults just like me especially females; those that are going through almost the same thing as me. These days’ people my age are faced with a lot of conflicting battles, I try to share my victories and how I got those victories. I’ve always believed my life to be an inspiration to others and this blog is a way to reach out to many others
I am The Black Writer and I am made of black!
